The 3-12 kW single-phase Sigen Energy Controller is a hybrid inverter/energy controller designed for residential installations (homes) or light commercial applications. It combines solar panel inverter, battery management, energy management, and (where desired) backup functionality. It operates within the SigenStor ecosystem.

Technical specifications

Below is a summary of the technical data for the 1-phase versions (3 kW to 12 kW):

Specification Typical values / range
Nominal AC power (output) variants from ± 3.0 kW, 4.0 kW, 5.0 kW, 6.0 kW, 8.0 kW, 10.0 kW to 12.0 kW AC power.
Mains voltage (AC) 220 / 230 / 240 V (1-phase), frequency 50 or 60 Hz.
DC input (solar panels) Max DC voltage often 600 V (sometimes higher depending on model).
MPPT trackers Usually 2 MPPTs for the lower powers; for the larger 10-12 kW models sometimes 2 or more.
Max. DC power (PV) For 12 kW AC models, PV power often exceeds 12 kW (oversizing is allowed, often up to approx. 1.2× or 1.6× the AC output) depending on the DC/AC ratio.
Efficiency High efficiency (maximum ~ 98.0-98.5 %) depending on model and load.
Protection class IP66 – dust and waterproof, suitable for outdoor mounting.
Battery module integration Compatible with SigenStor BAT series modules (e.g., BAT-5.0, BAT-8.0, etc.). Up to approximately 1-6 modules per controller.
Backup / emergency power Some models have “black start” capabilities (fast switchover in case of power failure) and peak power for a short period of time (e.g. 10 seconds).
DC/AC ratio Single-phase models often quote a DC/AC ratio of up to approximately 2.0, meaning that you can connect more solar panel DC power than the AC power of the inverter.
Weight / dimensions Approx. 36 kg for the larger (10-12 kW) models; dimensions are around 700 × 300 × 260 mm (W×H×D) for this class.
Operating temperature Often -30 °C to +60 °C.

Operation and functions

  • Hybrid operation : combines solar panels (PV) with a battery and the grid. The controller determines whether the power goes directly to consumption, is first charged to the battery, or is fed back into the grid, depending on your settings (maximizing self-consumption, minimizing costs, etc.).

  • EMS (Energy Management System) : Intelligent control/software/app (usually via the mySigen app) is provided for monitoring, setting priorities, selecting times, etc.

  • Black start / backup : in the event of a power failure, the system can switch over to keep critical loads operating; some models can provide peak power for a short period.

  • Oversizing PV input : because you can often connect more solar panels than the AC power ("DC/AC ratio >1"), you can optimize your yield during hours with lower irradiation, without the inverter having to operate continuously at full power.

  • Protection : Extensive protection features include protection against overvoltage, DC reverse polarity, leakage currents, insulation faults, arc faults, type II overvoltage, etc.
